how to remove brake rotors?
i have a 91 dodge stealth the front left rotor is bad and i need to replace it everything is off but the rotor will not move. Infact the local mechanic said to use a hammer or get a torch to heat it up. Well the hammer did nothing but break a already bad disk but the section on the hub is still stuck, this is not a one piece hub and disk assembly so what next so i can put on my replacement rotors and pads?
I had this happen on a Ford Contour, the rotor ring seperated from the hat after hitting it with a hammer. We eventually had to take a cutoff/grinder wheel, and cut a slit into the rotor hat that remained on the hub. That relieved the rust that was holding it onto the hub, and it popped off with some slight taps. We were also able to wedge a screwdriver into the slit to twist it apart.
Is this the turbo AWD model? If so, cool! Visit www.3si.org for help, using the forums.
